HRCRC Opens 2026 Essay and Public Speaking Competition for Ebonyi Students; The Human Rights and Conflicts Resolution Centre (HRCRC), Abakaliki, has opened a secondary school essay and public speaking competition. The competition targets students across the Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone.
The initiative forms part of the centre’s activities for the 2026 World Human Rights Day celebrations.
Participants must write on “The Nigeria I Want: Human Rights and the Future of Our Country.” They must submit their essays by 6 November 2026.
Successful entrants will advance to the grand public speaking competition scheduled for 10 December 2026.
Eligibility and Essay Requirements
The competition is open to students attending secondary schools within the Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone.
Applicants must follow these requirements:
- Essay topic: The Nigeria I Want: Human Rights and the Future of Our Country
- Word limit: A maximum of 500 words
- File format: Microsoft Word or PDF
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font size: 12
- Text alignment: Justified
- Identification: Include the student’s name, school and location
- Submission deadline: 6 November 2026
How to Submit an Entry
Eligible students should email their completed essays to 2026essaycompetition@hrcrc.ng.
All entries must arrive on or before 6 November 2026. Applicants must also observe the word limit and formatting instructions.
Furthermore, each submission must clearly identify the student and their school.
The organisers will contact successful applicants by email. These students will receive invitations to participate in the public speaking stage.
Grand Competition Date and Prizes
The grand public speaking competition will take place on 10 December 2026. The event forms part of the 2026 World Human Rights Day celebrations.
The organisers have announced the following cash prizes:
- First prize: ₦150,000
- Second prize: ₦120,000
- Third prize: ₦70,000
