UDUSOK Warns Public Against Fake Accounts Impersonating Vice-Chancellor; Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUSOK), has warned the public against fake social media accounts impersonating its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bashir Garba.
The fraudulent accounts operate mainly on LinkedIn and Facebook. They contact individuals with false promises of employment, contracts and other opportunities.
The university has disowned these accounts and their operators. It has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to their activities.
UDUSOK Warns Against Payment Demands
UDUSOK has clarified that neither the university management nor the Vice-Chancellor will demand payment as a condition for employment, admission or contract awards.
Furthermore, no staff member or agent has the authority to demand such payments on behalf of the university.
The university explained that its recruitment and procurement processes remain open to qualified individuals and organisations. These processes follow the Public Procurement Act, 2007, as amended.
Members of the public should therefore treat requests for payment in exchange for university opportunities as potential fraud.
How to Identify and Avoid Fake UDUSOK Accounts
The university has advised members of the public to communicate only through its verified official channels.
Prof. Garba also maintains verified social media accounts. Therefore, users should not assume that an account is genuine simply because it displays his name or photograph.
Additionally, UDUSOK has stated that neither the university nor its Vice-Chancellor will accept liability for transactions without a duly executed agreement. Such an agreement must exist between the university and the individual, group or organisation involved.
Members of the public should verify any offer directly through official university channels before sharing personal information or making payments.
UDUSOK Collaborates with Security Agencies
The university is working with security and anti-corruption agencies to identify and apprehend those operating the fraudulent accounts.
UDUSOK has urged the public to remain cautious when receiving unsolicited offers involving employment, contracts, admission or other opportunities linked to the university.
