The 2026 scholarship scheme is divided into three categories, each designed for different groups of students based on course of study, academic level and performance requirements.

The MTN Foundation Scholarship Programme is available through the following three categories:

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship
The MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship was introduced in 2010 to support students studying science and technology-related courses in Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
The scholarship is open to eligible 300-level students in universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
For the 2026 edition:
- 400 students will receive the award
- Each beneficiary will receive ₦300,000 annually
The scholarship can continue until graduation, provided recipients maintain the required academic performance and complete the required upskilling programmes.
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students
The MTN Scholarship for Blind Students was launched in 2012.
The category supports eligible blind students studying in Nigerian public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
The scholarship is open to students in 200 and 300 level.
For the 2026 edition:
- 100 blind students will receive the award
- Each beneficiary will receive ₦300,000 yearly
The scholarship remains renewable every year until graduation, provided beneficiaries maintain the required academic standard.
MTN Top 10 UTME Scholarship
The MTN Top 10 UTME Scholarship started in 2020.
Under this category, the top 10 highest-scoring candidates in UTME, as officially announced by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, automatically qualify for the scholarship.
Successful candidates will receive ₦300,000 annually from 100 level until graduation as long as they maintain the required grades.
Unlike other categories, this scholarship applies to:
- Any course of study
- Both public and private tertiary institutions in Nigeria

- Students who have completed second semester 200-level examinations and are progressing to 300 level
- Students already in 300 level due to differences in academic calendars
Medical students may apply if they:
- Have completed second semester 300-level examinations and are moving to 400 level
- Are already in 400 level

- 300-level students

Polytechnics
Applicants must have:
- A minimum CGPA of 3.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma programme
- Admission into the Higher National Diploma programme
Direct Entry Students
Direct Entry STEM students must possess:
- A minimum CGPA of 3.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma programme
- Admission into 300 level in a public university
Medical Students
Medical students in public universities and teaching hospitals must possess:
- A minimum pass grade or equivalent score

Blind students must have:
- A minimum CGPA of 2.5
Polytechnics
Blind students applying from polytechnics must possess:
- A minimum CGPA of 2.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma programme
