FUHSA Transfer and Change of Course Requirements 2026

FUHSA Transfer and Change of Course Requirements 2026; The Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare (FUHSA) has released the requirements, application process and approved fees for students seeking an intra-university change of course or inter-university transfer in 2026.

The modalities were approved by the University Senate at its 42nd meeting held on 10 August 2026, with a circular from the Office of the Registrar also dated 10 August 2026.

Transfer applications will be considered based on the applicant’s academic performance, the programme being sought and the availability of vacancies.

FUHSA Transfer Categories

FUHSA provides two categories of transfer:

Intra-university transfer: This is for students already studying at FUHSA who want to change their course or programme.

Inter-university transfer: This is for students from another university who want to transfer to FUHSA.

The applicable requirements and fees depend on the type of transfer.

FUHSA Transfer Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must have at least five O’Level credit passes, including:

  • Mathematics
  • English Language

Applicants must also meet the academic requirements for their intended programme.

Transfer approval is subject to available vacancies in the receiving programme. Applicants are also required to provide their academic transcripts and obtain the necessary departmental, faculty and university clearance or release.

Acceptance from the receiving department and other relevant authorities is also required.

MBBS and BDS Transfer Requirement

Candidates seeking transfer into Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) or Dentistry (BDS) must have a minimum CGPA of 4.01.

Applicants with a CGPA below 4.01 do not meet the stated academic requirement for these programmes.

However, meeting the CGPA requirement does not automatically guarantee approval, as other conditions and available vacancies will also be considered.

Nursing Sciences and Other Programmes

Candidates applying for Nursing Sciences or other programmes must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50.

Applicants must also satisfy the other requirements of the receiving programme and there must be an available vacancy.

FUHSA Transfer Fees for 2026

FUHSA has approved the following non-refundable fees:

  • Change of course form: ₦50,000
  • Acceptance fee for change of course within FUHSA: ₦250,000
  • Transfer from a public university in Nigeria: ₦500,000
  • Transfer from a private university in Nigeria: ₦2,500,000
  • Transfer from a foreign university: ₦3,000,000

Applicants should confirm the category applicable to them before making any payment.

How to Apply for FUHSA Transfer

Applications should be completed through the FUHSA transfer application portal.

Applicants should:

  1. Visit the FUHSA application portal.
  2. Select and complete the appropriate transfer or change of course application.
  3. Submit the required supporting documents.
  4. Attach the academic transcript.
  5. Obtain the required departmental, faculty and university clearance or release.
  6. Obtain acceptance from the receiving department and relevant authorities.
  7. Complete any additional academic requirements for the receiving programme.
  8. Regularise the approved transfer with JAMB.
  9. Complete the required indemnity form.

The receiving department may also require the applicant to take prerequisite courses.

Academic Transcript and Clearance Requirements

An academic transcript is required as part of the supporting documentation for transfer applications.

Applicants must also obtain the necessary release or clearance from the relevant department, faculty and university authorities.

The receiving department must accept the applicant before the transfer can be completed.

These requirements apply in addition to the required CGPA and availability of vacancies.

JAMB Regularisation and Indemnity Form

Candidates whose transfer applications are approved must regularise the transfer with JAMB.

They must also complete the required indemnity form as part of the process.

Applicants should ensure that both the University’s internal requirements and JAMB requirements are completed.

Prerequisite Courses May Be Required

The receiving department may require a student to take prerequisite courses before or after the transfer.

Applicants should therefore confirm whether additional academic requirements apply to their intended programme.

A Student Can Transfer Only Once

FUHSA has stated that a candidate cannot be transferred more than once.

Students should therefore carefully consider their intended programme, academic requirements, available vacancies and applicable fees before submitting an application.

Important Things to Know

Before applying, candidates should confirm:

  • They have the required O’Level credits.
  • They meet the minimum CGPA for their intended programme.
  • There is a vacancy in the programme.
  • They can obtain the required academic transcript and clearance.
  • The receiving department is willing to accept the transfer.
  • They understand the applicable non-refundable fees.
  • They are prepared to complete JAMB regularisation and the indemnity process.
  • They have not previously transferred, since FUHSA permits a student to transfer only once.

Meeting the CGPA requirement alone does not guarantee approval. The final decision also depends on programme requirements, vacancies and the required University approvals.
