Dylan O’Brien recently spilled his heart in a Gay Times interview, gushing about how grateful he is for his “trans, nonbinary sibling” and how his queer relationships, including with his brother, “deepen my experience in this world.” Sounds super sweet, right? Well, hold up—Dylan’s brother, who goes by Julz on Instagram and uses he/they pronouns, just dropped a truth bomb that’s got fans shook!
Julz slid into the comments of the Gay Times post about the interview and set the record straight. First off, he clarified he’s “actually trans masc,” not nonbinary as Dylan said. Then came the real tea: Julz revealed he and Dylan haven’t spoken in over a year!
Not even a text when Julz went through top surgery recently or a “happy birthday” for his birthday last month. Ouch! With a sarcastic twist, Julz added, “But glad I could deepen his experience in this world and make the world love him that much more 😏.”
Here’s the kicker: Dylan’s out there doing press for his new movie Ponyboi, where he plays a character tangled up with an intersex sex worker. Could it be he was trying to boost his ally cred by playing up his connection to Julz? Seems like Dylan might’ve stretched the truth a bit, because Julz is making it clear their brotherly bond isn’t as tight as fans thought.
