BlessingModeratorKano Court Sentences TikToker to One Year for Cross-Dressing Video
A magistrate court in Kano has sentenced popular TikTok content creator Abubakar Usman, widely known as Kilina, to one year in a correctional facility over a video in which he appeared cross-dressing.

Presiding over the case at Magistrate Court No. 21, Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan offered the defendant an alternative of paying a fine of ₦100,000. Additionally, Kilina was ordered to pay ₦30,000 in compensation to the Kano State Film Censorship Board for what the court described as “wasting the board’s time.”
According to a radio program monitored by Daily Trust, Kilina was convicted on charges of promoting indecent behavior, cross-dressing, and using vulgar language in several of his TikTok videos.
The charges stemmed from a case filed by the Kano State Film Censorship Board, which has been actively monitoring and regulating content on social media platforms within the state.
Magistrate Hassan cautioned Kilina against repeating such actions and warned that any future offenses would attract the full sentence without the option of a fine.
Kilina’s case adds to a growing list of convictions as the Kano State Film Censorship Board intensifies its efforts to enforce regulations on digital content shared within the state.
