FCET Asaba Pre-NCE/ PDE Admission for 2026/2027 Session; Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba (FCET Asaba), has commenced admission into its Pre-National Certificate in Education (Pre-NCE) and Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The two programmes are designed to meet different educational needs. The Pre-NCE programme serves as a preparatory route for candidates seeking admission into the College’s full-time National Certificate in Education (NCE) programme, while the Professional Diploma in Education is designed for graduates and professionals who wish to acquire teaching qualifications for careers in educational institutions.

FCET Asaba Pre-NCE Programme

The Pre-NCE programme is a one-year preparatory course created for candidates with four-credit entry qualifications who intend to progress into the full-time NCE programme.

Students admitted into the programme will receive academic preparation for NCE studies and will be required to meet the progression requirements before gaining admission into NCE I.

UTME Requirement for Progression to NCE I

All students enrolled in the Pre-NCE programme must sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

To qualify for admission into NCE I after completing the programme, candidates must obtain a minimum score of 100 in UTME.

Pre-NCE Admission Requirements

Candidates seeking admission into the Pre-NCE programme must satisfy at least one of the following conditions:

  • Meet the admission requirements applicable to their intended full-time NCE course.
  • Possess a Grade II Teacher’s Certificate with passes in all subjects and at least five years of post-qualification experience.
  • Possess any other qualification approved by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).

Applicants are advised to verify that they meet the appropriate admission route before obtaining the application form.

Pre-NCE Application Fee

The application fee for the Pre-NCE programme is N4,000.

The fee is non-refundable and must be paid through a bank transaction processed via the College Bursary Office.

How to Apply for Pre-NCE Admission

Candidates should follow the steps below:

  1. Pay the non-refundable N4,000 application fee through the Bursary Office.
  2. Collect the blue receipt after payment.
  3. Visit the Degree Unit with the blue receipt.
  4. Obtain the Pre-NCE admission form.
  5. Complete the form with accurate personal and academic information.
  6. Submit the completed form to the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Admissions).

Applicants should keep the blue receipt safely, as it will be required during the application process.

FCET Asaba Professional Diploma in Education (PDE)

The Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) is a one-year programme designed for candidates with technical, commercial, professional, or university qualifications who wish to acquire formal teaching training.

The programme prepares participants for teaching careers in technical colleges, polytechnics, senior secondary schools, commercial schools, and other educational institutions.

Who Can Apply for the PDE Programme?

Candidates may apply if they possess a recognised university degree or relevant professional qualification.

Applicants with Higher National Diploma (HND) qualifications in approved disciplines are also eligible for admission.

Accepted HND Fields

The College accepts HND qualifications in the following fields:

  • Building
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Accountancy
  • Secretarial Studies
  • Business Administration
  • Agricultural Science
  • Home Economics
  • Fine and Applied Arts

Applicants should ensure that their qualifications align with the teaching field they intend to pursue through the PDE programme.

Other Accepted Qualifications

Candidates may also be considered for admission if they possess any of the following qualifications:

  • Federal Government-approved Certificate in Secretarial Studies with Shorthand and Typewriting speeds of 100/50 words per minute.
  • WAEC or GCE O’Level with passes in at least five subjects, including English Language.
  • WAEC Technical Advanced Certificate.
  • City and Guild Final Certificate.
  • Full Technological Certificate of the City and Guild of London Institute in Building, Electrical/Electronics, or Mechanical Trades.
  • Any other technical or commercial qualification approved for the programme.

Applicants using Secretarial Studies qualifications should ensure they meet the specified shorthand and typewriting requirements.

Professional Experience Requirement

Candidates applying for the PDE programme are expected to have at least two years of professional, industrial, or teaching experience.

This requirement applies to applicants who already possess technical, commercial, or professional qualifications and wish to acquire educational training.

PDE Application Fee

The application fee for the Professional Diploma in Education programme is N4,000.

The fee is non-refundable and must be paid through a bank transaction processed via the Bursary Office.

Applicants should follow the steps below:

  1. Pay the non-refundable N4,000 application fee through the Bursary Office.
  2. Collect the blue receipt as proof of payment.
  3. Present the receipt at the Degree Unit.
  4. Obtain the PDE admission form.
  5. Complete the form with accurate personal, academic, and work experience details.
  6. Submit the completed application form to the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Admissions).

Candidates are advised to keep the blue receipt safe, as it will be required for form collection and verification.

Application Deadline

For both the Pre-NCE and PDE programmes, completed application forms must be submitted to the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Admissions), Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba.

All submissions must be completed before the matriculation ceremony for the 2026/2027 academic session.
