How to Check Dennis Osadebay University Admission Status

DOU candidates can check their admission status through JAMB CAPS.

Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the JAMB eFacility portal.
  2. Log in using your registered JAMB username and password.
  3. Scroll to Check Admission Status and select the option.
  4. Select Access my CAPS.
  5. Click Admission Status.
  6. Check the status displayed for your Dennis Osadebay University application.

The status displayed on JAMB CAPS will show whether the candidate has received an admission offer or whether the application is still being processed.

Candidates should carefully read the status displayed before taking the next step.

What the Different JAMB CAPS Admission Statuses Mean

Candidates may see different messages when checking their admission status on JAMB CAPS. These messages indicate different stages of the admission process.

Admission Offered

This means JAMB has approved the admission offer.

The candidate can proceed to accept or reject the admission through the available JAMB options.

Admission in Progress (AIP)

An Admission in Progress status indicates that the university has reviewed the application and recommended the candidate for admission, but the recommendation is still awaiting the required approval and JAMB review.

Candidates with this status should continue monitoring CAPS for an update.

Recommended

A Recommended status means the university has considered the candidate for admission, while the required JAMB review is still pending.

The candidate should continue checking CAPS rather than treating this status as a final admission offer.

Not Admitted

This means the candidate has not yet been selected for admission.

The status may remain this way while the relevant admission process is ongoing, depending on the stage of the admission exercise.

Pending

A Pending status means the application remains under review and a final admission decision has not yet been recorded.

Candidates should continue checking JAMB CAPS for changes.

What to Do After Receiving Admission

Candidates who see Admission Offered on JAMB CAPS should accept or reject the admission through the approved JAMB options.

Admission can be accepted or rejected through biometrics at an approved JAMB CBT centre or through the stated JAMB SMS option.

Candidates using an approved CBT centre may confirm the applicable procedure before proceeding.

For the SMS option, candidates are instructed to send:

ACCEPT or REJECT

to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number registered with JAMB.

The candidate’s main airtime balance should contain up to N50. JAMB does not charge borrowed airtime or Xtra Credit for this process.

Candidates who accept their admission should also print their JAMB admission letter.

DOU Admission Acceptance Deadline

Dennis Osadebay University Management has stated that newly admitted candidates should accept their admission offer on JAMB CAPS within two weeks from the date the offer was made.

Candidates who fail to complete the acceptance process within the stated period may risk forfeiting the admission.

It is therefore important for newly admitted candidates to check their CAPS status regularly and complete the acceptance process as soon as the offer becomes available.

DOU Acceptance Fee Deadline

After accepting the admission offer on JAMB CAPS, candidates are required to pay the prescribed Acceptance Fee and applicable sundry charges within one week of accepting the offer.

Candidates should not wait until the final day before making the required payments.

The exact amount payable should be confirmed through the approved Dennis Osadebay University payment channels.

Pay DOU Acceptance Fee Only Through Approved Channels

Candidates and their parents or sponsors should be particularly careful when making admission-related payments.

Dennis Osadebay University has advised newly admitted candidates to make Acceptance Fee and other applicable payments only through payment channels approved by the university.

Candidates should not transfer money into an unauthorised account or hand cash to an individual who claims to be acting on behalf of the university.

If someone requests payment outside the university’s approved payment channels, candidates should verify the request before making any payment.

How to Check JAMB CAPS on a Phone

Some candidates accessing JAMB CAPS with a mobile phone may initially see only the CAPS welcome page without the full Admission Status options.

If this happens, candidates can switch their browser to desktop mode.

Using Google Chrome:

  1. Open the JAMB CAPS page in Chrome.
  2. Open the Chrome browser menu.
  3. Select Request Desktop Site.
  4. Allow the page to reload in desktop view.
  5. Look for Admission Status on the full CAPS page.

The desktop version may display options that are not immediately visible in the mobile view.

What Candidates Should Do If Admission Is Not Yet Offered

Candidates whose CAPS status shows AIP, Recommended or Pending should continue monitoring their JAMB CAPS account.

These statuses do not represent the same thing as a final Admission Offered status.

Candidates should rely on the status displayed on JAMB CAPS and check regularly for an update.

Those whose status shows Not Admitted should also continue to monitor their status where the admission exercise is still ongoing.

DOU Admission Enquiries

Candidates who require additional clarification about the admission process should contact the DOU Admission Office or consult the university’s official admission portal.

Admission status should be confirmed through JAMB CAPS, while Acceptance Fee and other admission-related payments should be made only through approved Dennis Osadebay University payment channels.

Dennis Osadebay University Management has congratulated candidates who have received admission into the university for the 2026/2027 academic session.
