RSU Supplementary Admission 2026/2027

RSU Supplementary Admission 2026/2027. Rivers State University (RSU), Port Harcourt, has opened applications for supplementary admission for the 2026/2027 academic session. The exercise gives eligible candidates an opportunity to apply for other available programmes after missing the Merit or Catchment Area cut-off marks for their preferred courses.

The supplementary admission exercise also covers candidates whose programme changes on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) were made after the university’s stated deadline.

Applications will close on 6 September 2026.

RSU Supplementary Admission: Available Programme Options

RSU has opened supplementary applications for available programmes across the university, except for the courses specifically excluded from the exercise.

Candidates seeking supplementary admission should therefore consider other available programmes rather than the courses listed below.

Courses Excluded from RSU Supplementary Admission

The following programmes are not available for the 2026/2027 supplementary admission exercise:

  • Law
  • Medicine and Surgery
  • Nursing
  • Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Marine Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Petroleum Engineering

Candidates should not select any of these programmes when completing the supplementary application.

Who Can Apply for RSU Supplementary Admission?

The supplementary admission exercise is particularly relevant to candidates who did not meet the Merit or Catchment Area cut-off marks for their originally selected programmes.

Rather than losing the opportunity to be considered for admission, affected candidates can use the supplementary exercise to apply for other available programmes at RSU.

The university has also provided guidance for candidates whose programme changes through JAMB CAPS occurred after the specified date.

RSU JAMB CAPS Programme Change Condition

The JAMB CAPS programme-change date of 4 July 2026 is important for candidates considering the supplementary admission exercise.

RSU stated that only candidates who changed their programmes on JAMB CAPS on or before 4 July 2026 were considered by the University Senate Admission Committee before the release of the cut-off marks.

Candidates who changed their programmes after 4 July 2026 have been directed to proceed through the supplementary admission process.

This means candidates who made a programme change after the stated date should not assume that the later change will automatically be considered under the earlier admission exercise. They should instead follow RSU’s supplementary admission process.

Why RSU Supplementary Admission Matters

Missing the required cut-off mark for a preferred programme does not necessarily mean a candidate has to abandon the possibility of studying at RSU.

The supplementary exercise provides an opportunity to consider other available programmes, particularly for candidates whose original choices were affected by the Merit or Catchment Area cut-off marks.

However, candidates should understand that the supplementary exercise does not make the excluded programmes available. Applicants must choose from the programmes open for supplementary admission.

RSU Supplementary Admission Deadline

The deadline for the 2026/2027 RSU supplementary admission application is 6 September 2026.

Candidates who are eligible and intend to change to another available programme should complete their applications before the deadline.

This is especially important for candidates who:

  • Did not meet the Merit cut-off mark for their preferred programme;
  • Did not meet the applicable Catchment Area cut-off mark;
  • Changed their programme on JAMB CAPS after 4 July 2026; or
  • Need to consider another available programme at RSU.

Candidates are advised not to wait until the final day to complete the application, particularly where they need to review programme options before making their selection.

Important Things to Know Before Applying

Before submitting an RSU supplementary admission application, candidates should:

  • Confirm that they fall within the category covered by the supplementary exercise.
  • Review the available programme options carefully.
  • Avoid selecting Law, Medicine and Surgery, Nursing or any of the other excluded programmes.
  • Take note of the 4 July 2026 JAMB CAPS programme-change date.
  • Complete the application through the official RSU Candidate Application Portal.
  • Submit the application before 6 September 2026.

Candidates who are unsure which available RSU programme best matches their UTME subjects and O’Level results should check the programme requirements before making a selection.
