IMSU Direct Entry Eligibility Requirements

Candidates seeking admission through Direct Entry must satisfy the university’s stated admission conditions.

IMSU Must Be First Choice

Applicants must have Imo State University, Owerri, as their first-choice university.

Candidates who did not initially select IMSU as their first choice may still be able to apply where they meet the applicable admission conditions, but they must change their institution of choice to IMSU through JAMB before the Direct Entry application closes.

The available admission information does not specify a numerical cut-off mark for the Direct Entry screening exercise.

Candidates who need to change their institution can follow the JAMB change of institution guide before proceeding with the IMSU application.

Accepted Direct Entry Qualifications

Candidates applying through Direct Entry must possess an acceptable qualification in a relevant discipline or subject.

The qualifications listed for the exercise include:

  • Ordinary National Diploma (OND)
  • Higher National Diploma (HND)
  • First Degree
  • A’ Level
  • Equivalent relevant qualification

Applicants should confirm that their particular qualification and subject or discipline satisfy the requirements for the course they intend to study at IMSU.

Having one of the listed qualifications does not, by itself, guarantee admission. Candidates must also satisfy the relevant programme and JAMB requirements.

JAMB Result Upload Requirement

Candidates must ensure that their qualifying results are uploaded to the JAMB portal before admission processing.

Applicants whose required results have not been uploaded to JAMB will not be considered for admission.

Candidates who have not completed the upload can follow a guide on how to upload O’Level results to the JAMB portal and should ensure the process is completed before admission processing.

IMSU Direct Entry Application Fee

The IMSU Direct Entry screening application fee is ₦2,000 (Two Thousand Naira).

Payment is made at IMSU Microfinance Bank after the candidate has successfully confirmed eligibility through the university’s online portal.

The candidate’s JAMB registration number only should be entered as the Invoice Number during payment.

After payment, candidates should collect their receipt and return to the IMSU portal after 24 hours to continue the application.

IMSU Direct Entry Screening and Aptitude Test

Candidates who successfully complete the Direct Entry application will be required to attend the Direct Entry screening/aptitude test.

Applicants should print and keep their Acknowledgement Slip, as it will be presented at the screening venue.

The specific screening examination date and time for individual candidates will be communicated later.

The current admission information does not provide an individual screening date or time.

IMSU Direct Entry Registration Deadline

The deadline for the 2026/2027 IMSU Direct Entry screening registration is Tuesday, 25 August 2026.

Candidates who intend to apply should complete the process before the deadline.

Those who need to change their institution of choice to IMSU through JAMB should also ensure that the change is completed before the Direct Entry application closes.

Candidates should equally confirm that their qualifying results have been uploaded to the JAMB portal, as applicants without the required result upload will not be considered for admission.

Important Things to Remember

Before starting the IMSU Direct Entry application, candidates should ensure that:

  • IMSU is their first-choice university.
  • They have an acceptable OND, HND, First Degree, A’ Level or equivalent qualification.
  • Their qualification is relevant to their intended programme.
  • Their required results have been uploaded to JAMB.
  • Their JAMB registration number is entered correctly.
  • They pay the ₦2,000 application fee at IMSU Microfinance Bank.
  • They wait 24 hours after payment before returning to the portal.
  • They print and keep their Acknowledgement Slip.
  • They complete the application before 25 August 2026.
