UNIABUJA Clarifies Post-UTME Grading System for 2025/2026 Admissions

UNIABUJA Clarifies Post-UTME Grading System for 2025/2026 Admissions; The management of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has responded to enquiries from parents and candidates regarding perceived differences between examination results and post-UTME scores. The institution has provided clarification to ensure transparency and understanding of the grading process.

How the Post-UTME Grading System Works

According to the Admissions Office, the post-UTME grading system is technical and does not simply assess candidates’ results blindly. Instead, it evaluates performance based on the relevance of specific subjects to the chosen course of study.

  • For MBBS Applicants: Greater weight is given to Biology, while subjects like Economics carry no relevance.
  • For Economics Applicants: Economics will be prioritized over Biology.

This means that even when two candidates have identical grades, differences in subject relevance to their respective courses naturally result in varying post-UTME scores.

Assurance of Transparency and Fairness

The university assures parents and candidates that the post-UTME grading system is transparent, credible, and fully aligned with established academic standards.

Stakeholders are encouraged to trust the process, as the institution remains committed to fairness, accuracy, and integrity in its admissions exercise.

Official Statement

“We are committed to fairness and accuracy in admissions, and we encourage parents and candidates to trust the process.”
