JAMB Considers The Use Of Mobile Phones In Next UTME; The recently concluded 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) have revealed the most sought-after universities, with the University of Ilorin and the University of Lagos taking the top positions.

During the 2023 policy meeting, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, presented the top 10 institutions that attracted a high number of applicants during the UTME application period.

The University of Ilorin secured the first position, followed by the University of Lagos in second place. The list also included Lagos State University in third place, and Federal University, Oye-Ekiti in fourth place.

The remaining institutions in the top 10 are the University of Benin, University of Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo University, Nnamdi Azikwe University, Nigerian Defence Academy, and the University of Ibadan.

In addition to the rankings, JAMB announced that it is considering implementing a “Bring Your Own Device” initiative for the UTME and Direct Entry Examinations.

This initiative would allow candidates to use their mobile phones to take the examinations. Prof. Oloyede explained that this measure is being considered to reduce the board’s expenses associated with conducting the examinations.
