WAEC GCE 2025 2nd Series Registration Begins; The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially commenced registration for the 2025 WASSCE for Private Candidates – Second Series (GCE). This announcement is important for all intending candidates across Nigeria looking to take part in the examination. Below is everything you need to know to register successfully.

  • New: CBT now introduced for objective papers
  • Registration Deadline:
    • PIN Generation closes: Friday, August 22, 2025
    • Final registration deadline: Sunday, August 24, 2025 (11:59 PM)

How to Register

  1. Buy a Registration PIN:
    Candidates are to purchase a registration PIN at any of the approved banks (listed below) or from accredited agents.
  2. Log in for Registration:
    Visit www.waeconline.org.ng and follow the prompts to complete your online registration.
  3. Biometric Capture Required:
    Registration includes biometric data capture using the UareU DigitalPersona fingerprint device. This will be used for identity verification at the examination center.

Important Registration Details

  • Registration Duration: Candidates must complete registration within two weeks of first logging into the WAEC portal.
  • Personal Information: Double-check names, date of birth, gender, subjects, and passport photo before submission.
  • Passport Photo Specifications:
    • Clear, digital photo (black & white or color)
    • JPEG format, 275 x 314 pixels, 72 dpi
    • Plain, contrasting background
    • No obstructive items or filters
    • Use Microsoft HD 3000 camera if possible

Candidates With Special Needs

All candidates with impairments (visual, speech, hearing, etc.) should register online and clearly indicate their condition during registration.


Walk-in Candidates

Missed the deadline? You can still register as a Walk-in Candidate:

  • Fee: ₦45,000
  • Must register at least 24 hours before the intended paper

Computer-Based Testing (CBT)

  • Objective questions will be fully computer-based
  • Essay and practical papers will be hybrid: questions on screen, answers written on paper
  • WAEC will offer a free online mock test. Date and details will be sent via SMS, email, and social media

Completing Registration

  • Print your Admission Notice after registration. This:
    • Confirms successful registration
    • Serves as exam ID
    • Contains your Result Checker PIN
  • Keep login details and PIN safe
  • Provide a valid email address and phone number

General Examination Guidelines

  • No uniforms or arms allowed in the exam hall
  • No smoking is allowed
  • No mobile phones or electronic gadgets allowed — offenders will have results canceled
  • Registration fees are non-refundable
  • Do not register at more than one center
  • Any form of examination malpractice may lead to cancellation of results and possible prosecution
  • Candidates must enter the hall with their original Admission Notice
  • WAEC is not liable for errors in candidate details — ensure all info is correct before submitting
  • Digital passport photos must be captured with a Microsoft HD 3000 camera or equivalent, following the specified format
