WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP) 2025. The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) is now accepting applications for the 2025 Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP).
This prestigious opportunity aims to develop young West African professionals into future leaders and experts in civil society work, providing hands-on experience in WACSI’s core operational areas.
About the WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP)
WACSI, a regional non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening civil society organizations in West Africa, launched the NGIP in January 2008. The program addresses the need for practical, structured capacity building for young West Africans and targets recent graduates and early-career professionals.
Interns will work on WACSI projects over six months, enhancing their skills in leadership, program management, and key development issues.
Responsibilities of WACSI Interns

During the internship, interns will engage in various tasks, including:
- Supporting the creation and implementation of institutional assessment tools, training, and technical support.
- Participating in program planning, proposal development, and cross-unit projects.
- Assisting with administrative duties, such as budget monitoring, event organization, and maintaining calendars.
- Liaising with WACSI’s partners, associates, and beneficiaries.
- Contributing to the development of training materials, including toolkits, modules, and indigenous resources.
- Conducting research, writing reports, and preparing briefings on WACSI’s current programs.
- Developing project work plans, concept notes, and budget proposals.
- Performing desktop research on policy and legislative issues.
- Assisting with policy meetings, workshops, and advocacy tool development.

Eligibility for the WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme

- Be a citizen of Nigeria, Senegal, or Cape Verde.
- Hold at least a first degree in international affairs, political science, law, public policy, development studies, or a related field.

- Be proficient in English, French, or Portuguese, with working knowledge of another language.
Application Details
The internship will run from January to June 2025. Interns must complete the full six-month program; otherwise, they will be required to refund the internship’s full cost.
