University of Tokyo Amgen Scholars Program 2026; The University of Tokyo Amgen Scholars Program 2026 is a fully funded summer research opportunity for talented and motivated undergraduate students from around the world. This prestigious program allows participants to experience hands-on scientific research at the University of Tokyo, one of Asia’s leading and most respected universities.

By the end of the program, students will have developed valuable research skills, deepened their scientific knowledge, and built meaningful international friendships through collaborative research experiences.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

Be currently enrolled in a college or university in the Asia region that awards a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent).
Have completed at least their first year of undergraduate study at the start of the summer program.
Not be graduating before the summer program begins and must continue undergraduate studies for at least one semester or one quarter after the program ends.
Have a strong academic record.
Possess a good command of English, demonstrated by a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 72 (or equivalent).
Have a clear interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in the future.

Program Benefits

1. Accommodation
Participants will be provided with free housing throughout the duration of the program.

2. Stipend

Each scholar will receive a stipend of 270,000 JPY.
The stipend can be used freely for food, local transportation, and personal expenses during the stay in Japan.

3. Travel Support

International students will receive economy-class airfare to Tokyo.
Domestic students will receive round-trip train tickets for participation in the program.
The program office will determine the most economical travel route and schedule in discussion with participants.
Participants who alter their travel plans for personal reasons must reimburse the University of Tokyo for any additional costs incurred.
