Applicants must meet these criteria:
- Five O’Level credits in SSCE, WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Credits in three other relevant subjects related to the chosen teaching subject.
- Candidates with a University of Port Harcourt Certificate Programme or equivalent from recognized universities may apply.
- HND or non-education degree holders can apply for a two-year programme, provided they complete all compulsory, GES, and teaching practice courses for years one and two.
- OND holders can apply for a three-year programme under the same conditions.
- Candidates with an NCE Certificate with a merit pass are eligible for the Post-NCE programme.
- Post-SSC graduates qualify for National Youth Service (NYSC).
