UNIPORT Releases 2023/2024 Admission Into The M.Sc. (Petroleum Engineering & Project Development Programme); The M.Sc., Petroleum Engineering, and Project Development program is a collaboration between IFP School in France and the University of Port Harcourt in Nigeria, delivered by the IPS and founded by the NNPC/ TotalEnergies E & P Nigeria Limited Joint Venture.

UNIPORT Releases 2023/2024 Admission Into The M.Sc. (Petroleum Engineering & Project Development Programme)

The aim of this professional master’s degree programme is to provide graduates with:

  • Broad knowledge of traditional fossil fuels development
  • Knowledge to explore the development of other energies for the African energy sector.
  • Project Development

Admission is open to suitably qualified candidates from Nigeria and also open to suitably qualified candidates from the Sub-Saharan region of Africa.

This MSc program will prepare you for the next steps in your career by teaching you from industry experts and leaders.

The institute’s staff includes instructors from the Nigeria’s University of Port Harcourt (UniPort), France’s IFP School, and experts from the Nigerian and diaspora energy industries. Learning is aided by current, cutting-edge pertinent industry software. You will go on multiple field trips, review field-case studies, and visit several laboratories.

The Institute provides a welcoming learning environment that includes internet access, a virtual library, and hands-on training with student access to necessary information technology equipment.

The IPS hostel is of high quality, with features that encourage and foster student teamwork and collaboration.

On graduation, IPS graduates have a 95% internship and employment record in the oil and gas business.

The Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS) was founded in 2003 as an audacious attempt to bridge the skills gap between classroom theory and the actual and changing needs of the oil and gas sector.

Programme Duration: The programme is an intensive full-time study programme that runs for twelve (12) calendar months, non-stop.
Award of Degree: Successful students shall be awarded a joint Master’s degree from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and IFP School, France.

Admission Requirements: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in any branch of Engineering.

Additional consideration may be given to company-sponsored personnel already working in the oil & gas industry, with a minimum of 5 years relevant upstream petroleum experience, a Second Class Honours Lower Division, with a CGPA of not less than 3.00 on a scale of 5.00.

Graduates of the IPS Postgraduate Diploma, who meet the admission and screening requirements, may also apply.

A non-refundable fee of Twenty Thousand Naira (N20,000) only will be required to be paid online to start the application procedure.

Names of short-listed candidates will be published on the IPS website www.ipsng.org.

The programme is a tuition-paying program and successfully admitted students shall be responsible for their tuition or seek sponsorship.

Completed hard or e-copy Application Forms with credentials, must be returned to The Admissions Officer, Institute of Petroleum Studies, University of Port Harcourt, East-West Road, PMB 2, UniPort Post Office, Choba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, West Africa on or before Friday, June 30th,  2023.
