UNIMED releases 2023/2024 special academic programmes admission

Renowned for our stable and uninterrupted academic calendar, as well as the exceptional quality of education, we invite all eligible candidates to apply for admission into our 2023/2024 Academic Session for the following special academic programmes, spanning both undergraduate and postgraduate disciplines:

1. Transitional Doctor of Physiotherapy Programme (80% Virtually Driven – Online)
Duration: 12 months or 18 months

Admission Requirements:

To be admitted into the Transitional Doctor of Physiotherapy (tDPT) programme, leading to the award of a tDPT degree from UNIMED, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Prospective candidates must have credit passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English Language, and Mathematics in the West African School Certificate of Examination (WASCE) or National Examination Council (NECO), taken and passed in not more than two sittings.
  • For the 18-month duration: Prospective candidates must be graduates with a minimum of second-class lower division (2:2) or a pass grade (50% aggregate) in Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (BScPT), Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (BMR – Physiotherapy option), or Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) degree.
  • For the 12-month duration: Prospective candidates possessing the required first degree with an additional qualification of a Masters degree or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in a relevant specialty to physiotherapy shall complete the programme within a minimum of 12 months.

2. B.Sc. Conversion Programmes (Duration: 6 Semesters)

The B.Sc. Conversion Programmes are designed to enable graduates to gain admission into degree programmes at UNIMED, thus enhancing their employment and professional advancement prospects. This programme will be offered in the following courses:

i. Community Health Science
ii. Environmental Health Science
iii. Health Information Management System
iv. Biological Sciences (Microbiology, Animal & Environmental Biology, Plant Biology and Biotechnology)
v. Chemistry
vi. Physics
vii. Computer Science
viii. Science Laboratory Technology
ix. Prosthetics and Orthotics

Eligibility for B.Sc. Conversion Programme:

Candidates must have five (5) credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings in SSCE/NECO.

  • Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant discipline or
  • Holders of relevant professional certificates recognized as HND equivalent.

In addition, candidates MUST have NYSC Discharge Certificate or NYSC Exemption Certificate.

Method of Application:

Eligible candidates should visit the University’s website at www.unimed.edu.ng and follow these steps:

i. Click on “Admission”
ii. Click on “B.Sc Conversion”
iii. Click on “Payment” to make payment via online payment system using VISA or MASTER Card (Note: VERVE Card is not accepted)
iv. Print Payment Receipt after successful payment
v. Click on “Application Form” with your Payment Transaction ID to complete the form.
