UNIMAID Appoints New Vice Chancellor. The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has officially announced the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor. The Governing Council made this decision during a special meeting held on Wednesday, 18th September 2024. Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor, following the recommendation of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board. He was selected from four interviewed candidates due to his outstanding qualifications.

Professor Mele is a distinguished scholar in English Language and Linguistics with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and community service at UNIMAID. Prior to his new role, he served as the Acting Vice-Chancellor and held several key positions, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration).
