UNILAG Opens 2025/2026 JUPEB Admissions for Direct Entry into 200-Level. The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced the commencement of applications for its 2025/2026 School of Foundation Studies, offering students a one-year academic pathway into 200-level undergraduate programmes through the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB).

The foundation programme prepares successful candidates for Direct Entry admission into UNILAG or a number of affiliated universities in the United Kingdom, Scotland, and China. This intensive preparatory year is non-residential and is not open to visually impaired students.

Applications close on Friday, August 15, 2025, with the entrance exam scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Upon successful completion of the programme, candidates may be eligible for direct entry admission into UNILAG or one of its academic partners abroad, including:

  • University of Central Lancashire
  • University of the West of England
  • De Montfort University, Leicester

  • University of Salford

Subject Combinations

Students are expected to select three subjects aligned with their intended undergraduate course. UNILAG offers over 40 approved subject combinations across the Arts, Social Sciences, Sciences, and Commercial disciplines. Below are some highlights:

    • CRS/ISS – Government – Literature in English
    • French – Literature in English – Government
    • Music – Literature – Visual Arts
  • Commercial & Social Sciences:
    • Accounting – Business Studies – Economics
    • Economics – Government – Mathematics
    • Business Studies – Economics – Geography
  • Pure & Applied Sciences:
    • Biology – Chemistry – Physics
    • Mathematics – Physics – Economics
    • Chemistry – Physics – Geography

Applicants are strongly advised to match their desired undergraduate discipline with the appropriate JUPEB subject combination.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the programme, candidates must:

  • Possess a minimum of five credits in a single sitting, including English Language, Mathematics, and three other relevant subjects
  • Present valid results from WAEC, NECO, or GCE
  • Ensure all required results are available prior to application

How to Apply

  1. Visit applications.unilag.edu.ng and select “School of Foundation Studies.”
  2. Fill out the pre-application form using names exactly as shown on your NIN slip to generate a Payment Reference Number (PRN).
  3. Pay the non-refundable ₦35,000 application fee (excluding bank charges) at any commercial bank using your PRN.
  4. Return to the portal and log in with your PRN and surname (in lowercase) to complete the full application form.
  5. Print two copies of the completed application form.
  6. Your examination pass will be emailed to you one week before the test—print and keep this document for entry.

Examination Information

  • Date: Saturday, 30 August 2025
  • Venue: Distance Learning Institute (DLI), University of Lagos
  • Format: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Structure:
    • 20 questions in English
    • 20 questions in Mathematics
    • 15 questions each in your 3 selected subjects

Note: Candidates who select Mathematics as part of their combination will write Further Mathematics during the test.

  • Scoring high in JUPEB does not guarantee automatic placement into your preferred course. Programme capacity is limited, and departmental discretion applies.
  • UNILAG may conduct additional screenings where necessary.
  • The university enforces a strict code of conduct, including zero tolerance for:
    • Examination malpractice
    • Cultism
    • Drug use
    • Sexual harassment
    • Indecent dressing
