UNILAG Issues Notice on Unauthorized Filming and Video Production on Campus; The Management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has expressed concern over the growing trend of using the university’s premises—including hostels, lecture areas, and other facilities—for the shooting of films, videos, skits, vox pops, and other cinematographic activities without proper authorization.
According to the university, these activities, when carried out without approval, may misrepresent the institution’s image and disrupt campus order.
UNILAG’s Directive on Filming and Cinematographic Activities
The university’s management has directed that all individuals or groups, including students, staff, and external collaborators, who intend to carry out any form of filming or content creation within the campus, must first obtain official approval.
Requests for such approvals are to be addressed to the:
Communication Unit, 7th Floor, Senate House, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka.
UNILAG’s Position on Creativity and Compliance
While UNILAG encourages creativity and responsible expression, the university emphasized that all activities must comply with established institutional guidelines to maintain order, safety, and the university’s reputation.
Members of the university community and the general public are therefore advised to strictly adhere to this directive.
