UK Declares Intention To Hire Nigerian Teachers In 2023; The possibility of hiring teachers from Nigeria and other nations with one year of classroom experience has been announced by the United Kingdom.
This declaration was made in a statement posted on the UK department of education website.
In 2023, people from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Singapore, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe can apply for teaching jobs in the UK, according to the list.
The scheme will begin on February 1, the UK government declared.
The advertisement stated that teachers might be hired directly from their home countries or from those already living in the UK, but applicants needed to have degrees that met the same academic standards as UK bachelor’s degrees. You can check out scholarships for masters and undergraduates here
According to the statement, qualified instructors in the nine countries listed above will also be allowed to apply to the QTR through the TRA as of February 1, 2023.
“The introduction of a new service includes this change.
“To be awarded the QTS, teachers from all qualifying nations must demonstrate that they meet a set of uniform requirements. This method will eventually be made available to competent teachers from every nation outside of the UK.
“You do not need a formal teacher training degree to apply for assessment-only QTS.
To teach children aged three to eleven in primary school, you must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience, a first (bachelor’s) degree from a UK or non-UK university, English language proficiency at the level of a grade four General Certificate of Secondary Education, math proficiency at the level of a grade four GCSE, and physics, chemistry, or biology proficiency at the level of a grade four GC.
The UK National Education Union (NEU) reported that while professional teachers have been compelled to change careers due to increasing workloads and deteriorating inflation, new graduates are not choosing to pursue careers in teaching.
Since the beginning of 2022, there has been an increase in demand for teachers in the UK.
The lowest-paid teachers’ pay will rise to around £30,000 the following year, according to a pledge from the UK department of education.
