According to the Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic in Katsina, it has obtained financing totaling roughly N1 billion to establish programs in chemical engineering and petroleum technology.
This was said by Ibrahim Mudi-Kurfi, the institution’s rector, in a Katsina interview on Wednesday.
The institution received a special intervention from TETFund in the amount of roughly N1 billion, which will be utilized to outfit the laboratories and the two departments, Mr. Mudi-Kurfi continued.
The two programs would begin during the 2023 academic year, he added, noting that development had moved to an advanced point.
The rector said, “We will invite the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to inspect and make sure everything is in order as soon as the building is finished. “Since they are only offered at two institutions in the North-West institutions, I think they will let us start the programs.”
The polytechnic’s rector revealed that the NBTE had accredited around 40 of its Higher National Diploma and National Diploma programs.
Additionally, Mr. Mudi-Kurfi mentioned that the NBTE evaluated eight additional programs for accreditation on November 9th.
ND Environmental Health Technology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Survey and Geo-informatics, and Mechanical Engineering Technology were among the programs offered. Others include the HND Civil Engineering and HND Mechanical Engineering with Production options, the HND Science Laboratory with Chemistry option, and the HND Science Laboratory with Microbiology option.
“We hope NBTE will approve the polytechnic’s request to run the programs,” he continued.
