About the Award:

The International Undergraduate Student Bursary at the University of Manitoba is designed to support international students pursuing their Bachelor’s degree programs during both the fall and winter terms. The bursary aims to assist students who have a strong academic record and can demonstrate financial need.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the University of Manitoba International Undergraduate Student Bursary, applicants must:

  • Be international students with good academic standing.
  • Be registered in both the fall and winter terms.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Complete courses in both the fall and winter terms. Typically, students must enroll in and complete at least 60 percent of a full course load per term, equivalent to a minimum of 9 credit hours per term.
  • Graduate students are exempt from the credit hour minimums if they are registered as full-time students over the fall and winter terms with the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
  • Meet the minimum GPA requirements:
    • Continuing students must have a minimum degree GPA of 2.0.
    • New students (directly from high school) must have a grade 12 average of 70% or higher.
    • Students admitted under Mature Student Status may also be eligible for the bursary.
  • International students in their first year of post-secondary study in Canada are not eligible to apply for the general bursary program.

Value of Scholarship:

  • The University of Manitoba offers a total of $240,000 annually for this bursary, which will be divided equally among the recipients.

How to Apply:

  • Applicants must clearly document their financial need on the application form.
  • Students who have applied for government student loans from other provinces must submit a copy of their current official government loan assessment to support their financial need declaration.
  • The University of Manitoba General Bursary Application is available from the beginning of August each year until the application deadline on 1st October.
