Why we are closing our physical lessons, how our YouTube lessons grew into a full learning app, and everything the platform offers JAMB, WAEC, NECO, IJMB and JUPEB students.
An important announcement from Student Village
Explore our elearning platform here
The platform is a mobile-first app built around one goal: helping students pass their exams and get into the schools and courses they want. It combines structured video lessons, unlimited CBT practice, live multiplayer battles, an admission chance tool, expert admission guidance, and leaderboards and badges that keep you consistent. Most of it is free.
This was not an easy decision. A classroom has real value, and many of you have built friendships, habits and memories there. This article explains why we made the change, what it means for current students, what the new platform offers, and how our YouTube channel fits in.
Our journey: from classroom, to YouTube, to a full platform
The classroom years. Student Village began with physical tutoring, onboarding students, running lessons and guiding them through admission. Over the years, that work helped us secure more than 1,000 local admissions. That record is the reason we trust ourselves to build something bigger.
The YouTube years. As we taught, we noticed that students wanted to rewatch explanations, learn at night, and revise before exams without waiting for the next class. So we began putting our tutoring online through our YouTube channel, with lessons for JAMB, WAEC and NECO and a dedicated maths playlist. The channel is still growing, and every upload came from the same question: how do we help more students than one classroom can hold?
The platform years. Videos on YouTube are a great start, but they have limits. They have no practice questions attached, no progress tracking, and no way to connect your lessons to your admission goals. The Student Village Academy platform fills that gap by putting lessons, practice, competition and admission guidance in one place.

Why we are closing our physical lessons
1. A classroom can only hold so many students
Physical lessons depend on location, seats and a fixed timetable. A student who lives far away, can’t afford daily transport, or has school hours that clash with class time often gets left out. A phone and data are enough to access the platform.
2. Exam success depends on repetition
Passing JAMB, WAEC or NECO is not about hearing a lesson once. It comes from rewatching a topic that didn’t click, practising questions, seeing exactly where you went wrong and trying again. In a class, the teacher moves on. Online, you can pause, replay and repeat as many times as you need.
3. Today’s exams are computer-based
Students need to be comfortable answering questions on a screen, under time pressure. Practising in a CBT-style environment long before exam day builds speed and confidence, and a digital platform is the natural place to do that.
4. Practice should be unlimited, personal and tracked
A teacher can’t mark and explain hundreds of questions for every student every week. The platform can. It records your answers, shows explanations and lets you drill any subject or topic.
5. We want to put all our energy into one thing
Running physical classes and a digital product at once stretches any team. Going fully online lets us focus every teaching, technology and support effort on building the best preparation experience we can.
Physical lessons vs. the digital platform
| Physical lessons | Student Village Academy | |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Fixed location and timetable | Anywhere, any time, on your phone |
| Missed a lesson? | Gone unless someone catches you up | Rewatch it whenever you want |
| Practice | Limited to class time | Unlimited solo CBT practice |
| Feedback | Depends on the teacher’s time | Instant answers and explanations |
| Progress tracking | Informal | Answer tracking, leaderboards and badges |
| Admission guidance | Ad hoc | Admission chance tool and expert access |
| Reach | Students who can attend in person | Students across Nigeria |
Meet the Student Village Academy platform
Student Village Academy is mobile-first and covers five exams: JAMB, WAEC, NECO, IJMB and JUPEB. Here is what you get in detail.
1. Structured e-learning, organised like your syllabus (free)
Lessons follow a clear path: exam → subject → topic → lesson. You choose your exam, pick a subject, and work through each topic in order, with video lessons from experienced teachers arranged the way the syllabus is arranged. You never have to hunt for the right video or wonder what to study next.
How to use it well:
- Study one topic at a time and finish it before moving on.
- Watch with a pen and notebook, and pause to attempt each example before the teacher solves it.
- Go straight to practice (see feature 2) after each lesson while the topic is fresh.
2. Solo CBT practice with answers and explanations (free)
Practise any subject and any topic, timed or untimed, one question at a time. The platform tracks your answers and shows explanations, so you understand why an answer is right or wrong instead of just seeing a score.
How to use it well:
- Start untimed so you can focus on understanding, then switch to timed practice as exam day approaches.
- Always read the explanation, including for questions you got right.
- Keep a short list of the topics you keep missing and return to those lessons.
3. Live multiplayer battles (free)
Challenge classmates to real-time battles: same question, same timer, bragging rights on the line. It turns revision into something you look forward to, and the time pressure is good training for the real exam.
How to use it well:
- Battle friends who are preparing for the same exam and subject.
- Use a battle as a quick warm-up before a study session, or a reward after one.
- Note the questions you lost on and revisit them in solo practice
4. Admission chance tool (free check, optional detailed report)
Many students choose a school and course based on guesswork. Answer a few questions and see your chances of getting into your dream school and course in seconds. The check is free, and an optional detailed report goes deeper.
5. Talk to an admission expert (paid)
Sometimes you need to talk to someone who understands the admission system. Unlocking the detailed admission report (₦1,000) lets you speak directly with an admission expert about courses, schools and your next steps.
6. Leaderboards and badges (free)
Consistency wins exams, and it is hard to stay consistent. Weekly rankings, streak-friendly stats and achievement badges reward regular practice, so you can see your effort adding up.
7. Your profile: exam, school and dream course
When you sign up, you tell us your exam, your current school and your dream course. The platform builds your learning and admission journey around that. Your storage is free forever.
8. Built for your phone
Most students study on a phone, so the platform is designed for one. You don’t need a laptop to prepare properly.
Lessons and videos: how YouTube and the app work together
Video has always been central to how Student Village teaches, so here is how the two fit together.
On YouTube
Our channel is where many students first meet our teaching. It carries lessons for JAMB, WAEC and NECO, including a maths playlist. It is a good place to sample our style, revise a specific topic, and see whether our teaching suits you.

In the app
The platform takes video further: lessons are organised by exam, subject, topic and lesson, sit next to CBT practice for the same topics, and connect to your progress and admission goals. You don’t have to wonder what to watch next or whether you’ve understood it.
The best way to use both
- Discover on YouTube. Find us, sample the teaching and subscribe.
- Study on the app. Follow the structured path for your exam and subject.
- Practise right after each lesson. Test yourself on the same topic in solo CBT.
- Revise with videos. Before the exam, rewatch the topics you scored lowest on.
How to get the most out of any video lesson
- Watch actively. Pause and attempt each question before the teacher answers it.
- Take short notes. Write formulas, steps and rules in your own words.
- Replay the hard parts. Rewatching one confusing section beats rushing through the whole video.
- Practise immediately. Do 10 to 20 questions on the same topic straight after watching.
- Space it out. Revisit the topic a few days later to fix it in memory.
Sample study plans using the platform
These are suggestions to help you structure your time. Adjust them to your exam date and schedule.
An 8-week JAMB plan
| Weeks | Focus |
|---|---|
| 1 | Create your profile. Take untimed CBT practice in each of your four subjects to see where you stand. Check your admission chances. |
| 2 to 5 | Work through your weakest topics using the structured lessons. After each lesson, do practice on the same topic. |
| 6 | Move to timed practice across all subjects. Review every explanation. |
| 7 | Battle friends several times a week for speed. Rewatch videos on your remaining weak topics. |
| 8 | Light revision, timed mixed practice and a final admission check. Rest properly before the exam. |
A WAEC/NECO weekly routine
- Monday to Thursday: one topic per day through the video lesson, followed by practice.
- Friday: a timed mixed practice session across subjects.
- Weekend: a multiplayer battle with friends, then a review of your weakest topics.
Daily habits that make the difference
- Study at the same time every day, even if only for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Use the leaderboard and badges to build a streak.
- Review explanations for every wrong answer before you end a session.
How to get started: step by step
- Visit app.studentvillage.com.ng on your phone.
- Tap “Create account” and set up your profile with your exam, your current school and your dream course.
- Choose your exam and subject under learning, and open your first topic.

For parents and guardians
- No transport costs or fixed class hours. Your child studies from home, on a phone, at times that suit your household.
- You can see effort building up. Practice, rankings and badges give a clear picture of how consistently your child is studying.
- Admission guidance is built in. The admission chance tool and expert access help your child choose schools and courses based on information, not guesswork.

A word to our students and parents
Thank you for trusting Student Village with your preparation, whether you sat in our classroom, watched our lessons on YouTube or followed our admission guidance. The classroom is where this journey started, and the students who passed through it are the reason we are building something bigger.
Our goal has not changed: to help students pass their exams and get into the schools they want. What changes is how many students we can reach and how well we can support each one.
