RSU SUG Welcomes Students Back to Campus Cautions Against Unrecognized Associations; The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Rivers State University (RSU) has officially welcomed students back to campus as academic activities resume for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Comr. Akiri Destiny Ugochukwu, the Union extended warm greetings to all returning students and encouraged them to remain committed to academic excellence, discipline, and personal development.
The SUG also emphasized the importance of maintaining responsible conduct both on and off campus, particularly on social media. Students were cautioned against spreading unverified information or false content that could damage the university’s image.
Addressing recent misconceptions, the Union clarified that there is no recognized organization within the university known as the “Rivers State University Influencers Association (RSUIA)”. It reiterated that only the School Management and the SUG are authorized to release official information on behalf of the institution.
Students were advised to disregard any communication from unauthorized bodies and warned that individuals found engaging in such activities would face disciplinary measures in accordance with university regulations.
The message concluded with words of encouragement, urging all students to embrace cooperation, peace, and focus throughout the session to ensure a successful academic year.
