The admission exercise covers Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s and Doctorate degree programmes across several faculties, including Natural and Applied Sciences, Law, Health Sciences, and Management and Social Sciences.
Qualified candidates who meet the admission requirements can complete their applications online after paying the approved non-refundable application fee.

General Admission Requirements for Postgraduate Applicants
All applicants seeking postgraduate admission must possess:
- Five credit passes in WASC, GCE, NECO or NABTEB
- Credits obtained in not more than two sittings
- English Language included among the required subjects
Candidates must also satisfy the minimum academic requirements for their chosen postgraduate programme.
The university accepts graduates from Renaissance University and other recognised universities, provided they meet the approved admission conditions.
Renaissance University Postgraduate Diploma Admission Requirements
Candidates applying for Postgraduate Diploma programmes may be considered if they possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least Third Class Honours and a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 5-point scale
- An HND qualification with a minimum GPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale or its equivalent
For Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, candidates with recognised professional qualifications may have an added advantage. These include qualifications from:
- Associate Institute of Bankers
- Associate Certified Chartered Accountants
- Associate Cost and Management Accountants
- Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
- Chartered Professional Accountants
- Associate Chartered Institute of Accountants
- Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
Applicants with HND or professional qualifications must still meet the standard university entry requirements, including the required O’Level credits.
The university also stated that special cases may be considered after departmental or faculty tests, while equivalent qualifications approved by the Board of Postgraduate Studies and Senate may also be accepted.
Master’s Degree Admission Requirements at Renaissance University
The university offers Master’s programmes such as:

Applicants may qualify if they possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- At least Second Class Honours
- A minimum GPA of 2.50
Candidates with relevant Postgraduate Diplomas may also apply if they possess:

- Minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale or 3.0 on a 4-point scale
The university may also consider candidates with unclassified first degrees who have an average score of at least 50 percent.

- Be serving administrative or managerial staff in public or private organisations
- Possess at least two years of post-qualification work experience
The university also stated that holders of professional fellowship qualifications such as FIMLT, FNILT and NIPR may be considered if they have served in senior professional roles for at least three years.
Renaissance University PhD Admission Requirements
Candidates seeking admission into Doctorate degree programmes must possess a Master’s degree related to their proposed area of study.
For most departments, applicants require:
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale
- Or 3.0 on a 4-point scale
However, some programmes require a higher GPA standard.
Departments Requiring Higher GPA
A minimum GPA of 4.0 on a 5-point scale is required for PhD programmes in:
- Music
- Economics
- Public Administration and Local Government
- Psychology
- Faculties of Education
- Medical Sciences
- Health Sciences and Technology
- Business Administration
The university also noted that candidates with a B average of 60 percent at Master’s level and satisfactory research performance may qualify.
Master’s/PhD Admission Route
Renaissance University also offers a Master’s/PhD progression route.
Candidates may qualify if they possess:
- First Class Honours in a related discipline
- Or a Master’s degree with at least GPA 3.50 on a 5-point scale or 3.00 on a 4-point scale
Applicants who do not meet the standard PhD GPA requirement may still be considered for the Master’s/PhD route in some faculties.
The university explained that candidates who perform well in the Master’s coursework stage may later receive approval for full PhD registration.
Important Information for Master’s/PhD Candidates
Candidates admitted through the Master’s/PhD route have two progression options.
They may:
- Complete the Master’s programme and continue into the PhD stage without a fresh application if the required GPA is achieved
- Progress directly into the PhD programme after the first two semesters if approved by the university Senate based on academic performance
The required GPA for progression depends on the department or faculty.
