In an effort to ease the challenges faced during the implementation of crucial economic reforms and acknowledging the commitment of both ASUU and the Federal Government of Nigeria to the agreed-upon terms, President Tinubu has instructed the grant of an exceptional last waiver for the “No Work, No Pay” order on ASUU. This waiver enables the previously striking ASUU members to receive four months’ worth of withheld salaries out of the eight months of the strike period.
The President’s directive for this waiver comes with the mandatory condition that the Federal Ministry of Education and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment must establish a Document of Understanding (DoU) confirming that this exceptional waiver will be the final one granted to ASUU and all other education sector unions.
