Oyo State Govt Appoints Prof. Rasaq Kalilu as LAUTECH Vice Chancellor :Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso. This announcement was made in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Tuesday. Prof. Kalilu will serve a single term of five years, effective from 12 June 2024.

Oyo State Government Appoints Prof. Rasaq Kalilu as Substantive LAUTECH Vice Chancellor
The government expressed its confidence in Prof. Kalilu’s hard work, diligence, and professionalism to help achieve its mission for the institution. Prof. Kalilu is a distinguished figure in art and art history. He joined LAUTECH on September 1, 1992, and was promoted to Professor of Arts and Arts History in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, on 1 October 1999. He was appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor on 12 June 2023.
An alumnus of the prestigious University of Ife and the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kalilu is a polymath and specialist in Form and Material Technology. He has extensive administrative skills and leadership experience. He held several key positions, including:
- Head of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts (1998-2003)
- Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences (2003-2006 and 2012-2016)
- Chairman, Committee of Deans (2004)
- Chairman, Committee of Deans and Provosts (2004-2006)
- Deputy Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH (2006-2008)
Prof. Kalilu has received numerous national and international prizes and awards, such as the Gold Medal in the 1978-1979 All Africa Painting Contest, Elected Membership of the New York Academy of Sciences for his contributions to Science and Technology, Merit Prize in the International Postage Stamp Design Contest (1997), Outstanding People of the 20th Century Outstanding Achievement Medal (2000), Twentieth Century Achievement Award (2001), and the Development in Nigeria Merit Award (2006). He was also selected as one of the 1000 Leaders of World Influence for the 21st century in 2000 and received the Universal Award of Accomplishment in 2000.
Prof. Kalilu is a member of several academic and intellectual organizations, including the Australian Ceramic Society and the International Association of Astronomical Artists. He is a Fellow of the Society of Nigerian Artists and a Justice of the Peace in Oyo State. Prof. Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu hails from Ogbomoso and is married with children.
