OAU Postgraduate Admission Form 2025/2026 Rain Semester; Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has invited applications from qualified candidates for admission into its full-time and part-time postgraduate programmes for the Rain Semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The available programmes include Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates, Master’s degrees, Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes.

- Full-time minimum duration: 4 semesters
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Full-time minimum duration: 6 semesters
- Part-time minimum duration: 8 semesters, subject to approval
Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
A candidate may apply if the person is:
- A graduate of OAU with at least a Third Class degree
- A graduate of any approved university with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division
- A graduate of any approved polytechnic with an HND not below Lower Credit
Master’s Degree Programmes
A candidate must have:
- A minimum of Second Class Lower Division honours degree from OAU or any approved university
- HND with Lower Credit and a Postgraduate Diploma from OAU
Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Degree
A candidate must have:
- A minimum of Second Class Lower with 50–59 percent at Master’s level, or
- A Master’s degree with at least 60 percent
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
A candidate must have:
- A Master’s degree with research thesis and coursework average of not less than 60 percent
Important Notice for Applicants
All candidates must meet the O’Level requirements, which include five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics where required, in not more than two sittings.
Every applicant must also sit for the screening examination. The university has made it clear that the screening test is mandatory for all applicants.

- NYSC Discharge Certificate
- O’Level Certificate such as West African Examinations Council (WAEC) or National Examinations Council (NECO)

Research Proposal Requirement
Applicants for certain programmes must submit a research proposal.
- Master’s programmes with Research Thesis: 3 pages
- PhD programmes: 5 pages

- Professional programmes: ₦25,000.00
- Subsea Engineering: ₦30,000.00
- DBA and DPA programmes: ₦50,000.00
- Geospatial or Land Administration programmes: US$100.00
- All international applicants: US$100.00
