OAU Approves Academic Calendar for 2024/2025 Session; The Senate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, at its sitting on Thursday, 18th September 2025, approved the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session. This marks the beginning of another year of academic excellence, innovation, and transformative learning at one of Nigeria’s premier institutions.
Commencement of the New Session
The session will officially begin on Saturday, 11th October 2025, with the phased arrival of fresh students:
- Saturday, October 11, 2025: Students from the Faculties of Administration, Arts, Environmental Design and Management (EDM), Education, Law, and Social Sciences will come into residence.
- Sunday, October 12, 2025: Students from the Faculties of Agriculture, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Computing Science and Engineering, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology will arrive on campus.
Registration and Orientation
- Online Course Registration for Fresh Students: Begins October 13, 2025
- Orientation Programme: October 13–17, 2025
- ICT Training: October 20–24, 2025
Resumption of Returning Students
All returning undergraduate students are expected back on campus on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Key Academic Activities
- Lectures Begin: Monday, October 27, 2025
- Normal Course Registration Ends: October 31, 2025
- Late Registration (with penalty): November 24–28, 2025
- Matriculation Ceremony: December 3, 2025
Harmattan and Rain Semesters
- The Harmattan Semester will run through March 2026, featuring 13 weeks of lectures, one week for revision, and scheduled periods for examinations and breaks.
- The Rain Semester is set to commence on Monday, March 30, 2026.
