NSUK to commence MBBS next academic session says VC; During the recent handover ceremony of the building designated for the College of Medical and Health Sciences, the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, affirmed that the university is ready to launch its MBBS program in the upcoming academic session. The establishment of the program is a significant milestone for the university’s College of Health and Medical Sciences.

Professor Suleiman further mentioned that in addition to the Community Health and Health Information Management programs, which will begin in the current academic session, the MBBS program will be launched in the following academic session.
However, the program will commence only after receiving certification from the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). This process will be facilitated by the completion and equipping of the College of Medical and Health Sciences Complex.
During the event, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his gratitude to both TETfund and the contractor, Messers Goldmark, for successfully carrying out the project according to the specified requirements. Despite the challenges faced during the project’s execution, including those brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the contractor managed to deliver the completed project.
Engr. S.A. Danladi, the Managing Director of Goldmark Construction Services, also expressed his appreciation to the University management for the opportunity to contribute to the development of the institution. He explained that although the contract was initially awarded in 2021 with a stipulated completion period of 24 weeks and a handover date in 2022, the project faced delays due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, the project was successfully delivered in 2023.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic handover of the keys of the College of Medical and Health Sciences Complex to the Vice-Chancellor. This moment marked a significant milestone in the completion of the project. Following the handover, the Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by Engr. Ahmed Liman, the Acting Director of Physical Planning, led a guided tour of the newly constructed building.
It is worth noting that the College of Medical and Health Sciences Complex was constructed as part of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) Annual Intervention Project for the period of 2017 to 2019. This initiative played a crucial role in the realization of the complex, facilitating its construction and equipping it to meet the needs of the College.
