NCDMB 8th Annual Essay Competition for Undergraduates 2025; The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has announced the 8th edition of its Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition. The theme for 2025 is:
“Sustaining Local Content Policies in the Transforming Oil and Gas Industry.”

Eligibility

- Open to 100 and 200 level students in Nigerian universities and polytechnics.
- Applicants must provide proof of studentship (admission letter or signed HOD note).
- Essays must be original and written specifically for this contest.
- Only one entry per student; group submissions are not allowed.
Prizes
- 1st Prize: ₦1,000,000 + brand-new laptop + publication in Local Content Digest.
- 2nd Prize: ₦700,000 + laptop.
- 3rd Prize: ₦500,000 + laptop.
- 4th – 10th Place: Each finalist receives a laptop.
- Certificates and special recognition awards will also be presented.
Submission Guidelines
- Portal opens: 1st August 2025.
- Deadline: 31st August 2025.
- Word limit: 1,500 words.
- Submissions must be uploaded via the official NCDMB Essay Competition registration page.
- Only online entries will be accepted (no email or hard copy submissions).
- Late entries will not be considered.
- Do not include personal contact details inside the essay.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be assessed based on:
- Originality and depth of ideas.
- Relevance to the topic.
- Proper structure, spelling, and grammar.
- Compliance with contest rules.

- Date: 26th September 2025.
- Venue: NCDMB Headquarters, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
