MDCN Revises Annual Practicing License Fees; The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has updated the annual practicing license fees for registered practitioners.

Approval and Background


This revision was approved following resolutions reached during Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) meetings, including the 64th Annual General Meeting held in May 2024.

New Practicing License Fees

  • ₦40,000: For practitioners with 10 or more years of experience.
  • ₦20,000: For practitioners with less than 10 years of experience.

These changes align with Section 14 of the MDCN Act.

Relevant Provisions of the MDCN Act

  • Section 14(3): The Council has the authority to vary practicing fees with the Minister’s approval.
  • Section 14(5): Practicing without payment of the prescribed fee constitutes an offence.

Penalties for Non-Payment

PRACTICE PAST QUESTIONS HERE (JAMB, WAEC, NECO, POST-UTME)

  • First Offence: A fine equal to twice the practicing fee.
  • Subsequent Offences: A fine of at least ten times the practicing fee.
    Employers of practitioners who have not paid their fees may also face penalties unless they can prove they were unaware or not complicit.
