Academic Requirements:
A. Nautical Science:
- Applicants must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects, including Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Geography, and any other related science subjects obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.
- Applicants must possess a National Diploma Certificate in Nautical Science with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The applicant must also have a JAMB Registration Number.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) year post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one (1) year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.
B. Marine Engineering:
- Applicants must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects, including Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any other related science subjects obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.
- Applicants must possess a National Diploma Certificate in Marine Engineering with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The applicant must also have a JAMB Registration Number.
- Applicants with ND in Boat and Ship Building Technology obtained from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria with a CGPA not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) year post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one (1) year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.
C. Maritime Transport and Business Management:
- Applicants must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in O/Level subjects, including Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any two (2) of Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting, or Business Management obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.
- Applicants must possess a National Diploma Certificate in Maritime Transport and Business Studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The applicant must also have a JAMB Registration Number.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) year post-ND Industrial Training with evidence or acquired a minimum of one (1) year cognate work experience in a relevant organization.
Academy Transcript:
Academic Transcripts of applicants from other accredited institutions must reach the Office of the Coordinator Academic Affairs on or before the close of the application portal, via the email address admission@maritimeacademy.gov.ng.
Physical and Medical Fitness:
- Due to the peculiar requirements of the institution and the maritime industry, all applicants are expected to be physically and mentally fit to withstand the rigors/challenges of the cadetship training. Shortlisted candidates will be required to present themselves for physical and medical screening when invited.
- Candidates must download the Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal and duly complete and sign it before uploading it on the portal.
- Candidates are expected to undergo specific medical tests at any Government Hospital and upload the results on the application portal between 26th July 2023 and 22nd September 2023. The uploaded medical test results will be subject to further confirmation when invited for screening.
