LAUTECH Doctors Want Improved Benefits From Gov Makinde; The Association of Resident Doctors at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Ogbomosho, Oyo, has asked that adopted benefits be implemented in Federal Tertiary Health Institutions (FTHIs).

The group requested immediate assistance from Governor Seyi Makinde in a statement signed by its president, Sope Orugun, and general secretary, Stanley Nnara.
It said that implementing these and other advantages quickly would reduce further emigration of healthcare personnel out of the state, and it requested the domestication of the Medical Residency Training Act (MRTA) and the establishment of the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF).
They blamed the transfer of health personnel from State Tertiary Health Institutions (STHIs) to FTHIs on disparities in benefits and working conditions.
The doctors also asked for an increase in the subvention to LAUTECH teaching hospital, an offset of wage arrears owed to their members, and an upward revision of the hazard allowance in Oyo as gained in FTHIs.
According to the doctors, one of the concerns addressed during Mr. Makinde’s visit on August 15, 2020, will be the domestication of MRTA, which governs and funds residency training programs in Nigeria.
According to the association, the act has been properly administered at the federal level since it was signed into law in 2017, and the sum for the MRTF is being increased.
“As a responsible organization, we have enlisted the help of all organs of this administration to correct this injustice.” However, in the previous year, this has been problematic, since we were just recently able to hand over the Oyo State draft of the MRTA Bill to the governor personally,” it stated.
The association stated that it presented the measure to the governor during his Ogbomosho town hall meeting on December 1 in the hopes that he would expedite assent to the bill.
“All of these flaws have made LAUTECH teaching hospital less appealing for training and services since resident doctors are now migrating from most STHIs (including LTH) to FTHIs,” the group emphasized. “All of this exacerbates the already deteriorating workforce in most STHIs.”
