LASU Outlines Safety Guidelines For Students; During its 305th Statutory Meeting on December 28, 2023, the University Senate reviewed paper Ref. No LASU/SEN/ST.305/023/040 regarding Guidelines and Safety Advice for Lagos State University (LASU) Students.

This paper, recommended by the Acting Dean, the Students Affairs Division, was thoroughly considered.
The Senate acknowledged the historical application of these measures and agreed that students must continue to observe the following guidelines to ensure their safety both within and outside the university campuses:

- Identification Cards: All students are required to wear their identification cards within the campus premises and carry them when outside.
- Compliance with Protocols: Adherence to all university protocols and regulations concerning dress code is mandatory.
- Night Reading: Students attending the university for night reading purposes are advised to arrive early and depart when visibility is optimal.
- Transport Caution: Exercise caution when boarding commercial vehicles, use designated bus stops, and avoid boarding vehicles lacking proper identification.
- Hostel Selection: Students are encouraged to choose hostels situated in areas where fellow students predominantly reside.
- Group Travel: Avoid walking alone outside the school gate after 8.00 pm; traveling in groups is recommended when possible.
- Maintaining Vigilance: Maintain vigilance, especially in specific locations like First Gate, Agboroko, Iyana School, Alaba Rago, and LASU Badagry Gate.
- Communication with Peers/Parents: Inform peers or parents about your whereabouts when leaving either home or hostels.
- Well-lit Areas: Stick to well-lit areas when walking alone within the campus or nearby, particularly during nighttime.
- Caution with Strangers: Be cautious about accepting lifts or rides from unfamiliar individuals.
- Privacy on Social Media: Avoid sharing personal information, such as home addresses or phone numbers, on social media platforms.

These guidelines have been established to prioritize the safety and well-being of all LASU students and must be strictly adhered to by the student community.
