KWASU gets NUC’s approval for 13 new programmes; The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, to introduce 13 new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This approval was communicated in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Acting Executive Secretary of the NUC.

New Programmes Overview

Undergraduate Programmes:

  1. B.HIM Health Information Management
  2. B.Sc. Development Studies

Postgraduate Programmes:

  1. LL.M. Common Law
  2. Ph.D. Common Law
  3. LL.M. Islamic Law
  4. Ph.D. Islamic Law
  5. M.LIS Library and Information Science
  6. Ph.D. Library and Information Science
  7. Ph.D. Human Kinetics
  8. Ph.D. Special Education
  9. M.Sc. Medical Laboratory Science
  10. Masters in Public Sector Accounting
  11. Masters in Development Finance

These programmes are scheduled to commence from the 2024/2025 academic session and will be offered in full-time mode.

Vice-Chancellor’s Response

Reacting to the approval, Acting Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed his excitement over the new additions. He acknowledged the support of the state government in achieving this milestone and commended the dedication of the university staff in preparing to deliver these new programmes.

He emphasized the institution’s commitment to contributing significantly to human capital development.
