The University’s management, led by Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, approved this grant on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. It’s part of the institution’s efforts to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal on its staff.
A comprehensive circular, signed by the University Registrar, Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee, announced the guidelines. These guidelines were set forth after the committee submitted its recommendations to the Management on November 21, 2023.
The circular specifies that only confirmed staff members’ biological children pursuing undergraduate, regular degree programs (including IDEL regular and Professional Degree Programs, PDP) are eligible for this grant.
According to the circular, eligible candidates can benefit from the grant for the regular duration of their admitted program. Moreover, a staff member can claim the grant for a maximum of four (4) children during their entire period of service.
The circular also outlines that if a staff member whose child benefits from the School Fees Relief Grant passes away, the child will continue
to receive the grant for the initially considered period. However, if an employee ceases to be a staff member due to voluntary resignation, retirement, or dismissal, the grant will automatically cease.
