About the Award:
The Embassy of Japan is pleased to announce scholarships for Primary/Secondary school teachers interested in undertaking a teacher training course and Japanese language training in Japan.
This initiative is part of Japan’s commitment to fostering education and cultural exchange on a global scale.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Applicants must have the nationality of a country with diplomatic relations with Japan.
- Age: In principle, applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1990.
- Academic and Career Background: Graduates of universities or teacher training schools, having worked as teachers at primary/secondary educational institutions for at least five years.
- Japanese Language Ability: Applicants must be eager to learn Japanese and demonstrate an interest in Japan, with the ability to adapt to living in the country.
- Health: Applicants must be medically fit for studying in Japan, as certified by an examining physician.

Value of Scholarship:
- Allowance: 143,000 yen per month, with additional amounts for those researching in designated regions.
- Transportation to Japan: Economy-class airplane ticket to Narita International Airport or another designated airport.
- Transportation from Japan: Return ticket to the international airport nearest to the recipient’s home address.
- Tuition and Other Fees: Entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition fees covered by the Japanese Government.
Duration of Scholarship: The scholarship covers the period necessary to complete each university’s training course, ranging from October 2023 (or the starting month of the course) to March 2025. Extension of the term is not permitted.
How to Apply:
Applicants must submit all required documents to the Japanese diplomatic mission in their country. The submitted documents will not be returned.

Important Notes:
- Recipients are advised to familiarize themselves with the Japanese language, weather, customs, and university education before departing for Japan.
- As the first installment of the scholarship payment is not immediate, recipients should bring approximately US $2,000 or its equivalent to cover immediate needs upon arrival in Japan.
