JAMB Releases Top Scorers for 2025 UTME; The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has unveiled the top-performing candidates in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This announcement was made during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on Tuesday in Abuja.
Top Scorer Emerges Amid Controversy
According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Okeke Chinedu Christian, a candidate from Anambra State, recorded the highest score in the 2025 UTME with an impressive 375 points. Okeke applied to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
However, Prof. Oloyede disclosed that a background check on Okeke’s records revealed a serious irregularity. JAMB’s database showed that Okeke had previously gained admission into the Department of Medicine at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) four years ago, and is still an active student in that programme.
Upon contacting UNN for clarification, the university confirmed that Okeke remains duly registered and enrolled in the medical programme. There has been no formal record of withdrawal or deferral from the course.
Disciplinary Action Underway
Due to the conflicting records, JAMB has taken further steps by writing to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) to prevent Okeke from practising medicine under these circumstances. Prof. Oloyede emphasized the board’s commitment to upholding integrity within the admissions process and warned that such cases would not be tolerated.
