JAMB has made email addresses mandatory for UTME registration; The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board have announced that the submission of email addresses is now required for registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination beginning Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

The admissions board announced this in a statement issued Monday by its Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who also stated that no candidate would be enrolled in the future unless an email address is provided.
Although registration is still ongoing, JAMB stated that the new development would make the process of capturing all relevant data pertaining to candidates more flexible and easy in the future, but that the board would not retrieve lost email passwords or change email addresses for candidates who have already registered.
It also stated that the most recent recommendation would make it easier and less expensive to communicate urgent and critical information to candidates.
“Furthermore, e-mail allows more flexibility in contact and is a more professional means of reaching out to prospects,” the statement said in part.
“Candidates are, therefore, urged to get their legitimate e-mail addresses before proceeding with UTME registration.
“In addition, candidates must keep their passwords secret because the board does not recover lost email passwords or change email addresses once enrolled.”
Student Village reports that the 2023 UTME registration began Saturday, January 14, 2023, and will end Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
