JAMB Extends Deadline for 2025/2026 Admissions into Public Universities; The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline for admissions into public universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. The new and final deadline is Monday, 17th November 2025.
Reason for the Extension
According to JAMB, the decision followed an appeal from the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU). The request came after disruptions caused by a court order that affected the 2025/2026 admission list until 28th October 2025.
In addition, the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently released a list of 229 newly accredited programmes across 37 universities on 29th October 2025. Admissions into these new programmes have only just begun, prompting the need for more time.
JAMB’s Directive
JAMB emphasized that this new deadline is final and must be strictly adhered to by all institutions and candidates. The extension aims to ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and proper completion of the ongoing admission process into all public universities in Nigeria.

All prospective students are strongly advised to complete their admission process on or before 17th November 2025. JAMB has urged all institutions and stakeholders to take note of the new deadline and make the necessary arrangements to finalize all pending admissions.
