JAMB Begins Accreditation of 848 CBT Centres Nationwide. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the accreditation of examination centres for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The exercise, which began on Monday, December 15, 2025, covers a total of 848 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria.
This development was disclosed in JAMB’s Weekly Bulletin released on the same day. The Registrar of the Board, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, announced the commencement of the process during a virtual meeting with key stakeholders involved in the UTME administration. These included Chief External Examiners, Chief Technical Advisors, Zonal Directors, State Coordinators, representatives of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, as well as ZITOs, SITOs, and PITOs.
Speaking at the meeting, Professor Oloyede emphasized the far-reaching impact of the accreditation exercise on candidates and the nation’s education system. He reminded all members of the accreditation teams that their assignments must be carried out with utmost diligence and integrity. According to him, no CBT centre should be approved unless it fully complies with all standards and requirements laid down by the Board, describing the exercise as a national duty that demands objective and honest assessment.
The Registrar also addressed safety concerns, urging team members to remain vigilant throughout the exercise. He advised them to avoid unnecessary risks and limit movements that could expose them to danger, assuring participants that adequate security arrangements have been put in place to support the accreditation process from beginning to end.
Providing technical insights, JAMB’s IT Consultant, Mr Damilola Bamiro, explained that only centres that successfully passed the mandatory automated system test were shortlisted for accreditation. The test evaluates the readiness and suitability of each centre’s computer systems for UTME operations, and centres that failed were automatically disqualified from proceeding to the physical inspection stage.
Mr Bamiro further stated that special attention would be paid to the inspection of CCTV infrastructure during on-site visits. All accredited centres are required to install hard-wired CCTV cameras from the HIKVision brand, configured with the approved 16-channel setup. In addition, all network switches must be connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to ensure stable and uninterrupted operations during examinations.
