Apple is preparing to introduce a new set of emoji for iPhone users with the upcoming iOS 26.4 update. The latest beta 4 version, released to developers, already includes several fresh emoji that users will soon be able to use in messages, social media posts, and more.
Why New Emoji Are Added
Each year, an organization known as the Unicode Consortium reviews and approves new emoji that can be used across different platforms. Once approved, these emoji are eventually added to devices like iPhones, Android phones, Windows computers, and other systems.
The emoji included in the iOS 26 update were officially approved last summer, and Apple is now adding them to the iPhone through the iOS 26.4 software update.
New Emoji Coming to iOS 26.4
The beta version of iOS 26.4 currently includes the following emoji:

Apple has recently introduced Apple Intelligence, which allows users to create their own custom emoji known as “Genmoji.” However, standard emoji updates are still important because they follow a universal system. This means people using different devices can easily send and receive the same emoji without compatibility issues.
Looking Ahead
There are also early candidates for the next set of emoji expected in iOS 27. These potential additions include gestures like leftward and rightward thumbs, a meteor, a smiley face with squinting eyes, an eraser, and more. These options are still under review and have not yet been officially approved.
