ICPC files fresh corruption charges against ex-JAMB registrar and his family; The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has recently filed fresh corruption charges against Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, the former Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and members of his family.

According to the ICPC, Prof. Ojerinde and his family members were accused of diverting funds meant for the procurement of some critical assets for JAMB, including a contract for the supply of booklets, building materials, and security equipment. The Commission alleged that the diversion of the funds took place between 2003 and 2020, during Prof. Ojerinde’s tenure as Registrar of JAMB.
The ICPC said in a statement that the charges were filed against Prof. Ojerinde and his son, Iyiola Ojerinde, who is the Managing Director of an information and communication technology company, Digital Support System Limited. The company is alleged to have been used as a conduit for the diversion of the funds.
The Commission further revealed that it had traced several properties and bank accounts belonging to Prof. Ojerinde and his family members, which it claimed were acquired with proceeds of the alleged corruption.

The properties traced by the ICPC include two houses in Abuja and Lagos, two flats in Oyo State, and several plots of land in Lagos, Oyo, and Osun States. The Commission also claimed to have frozen the bank accounts of Prof. Ojerinde and his family members, which contain several millions of naira.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that Prof. Ojerinde is facing corruption charges. In 2020, he was arraigned by the ICPC on charges of misappropriating over N900 million belonging to JAMB, which he allegedly diverted for personal use. The case is still ongoing.
The ICPC has assured the public of its commitment to fighting corruption and holding public officers accountable for their actions. The Commission has also called on Nigerians to support its efforts in the fight against corruption by reporting any act of corruption or economic crime to its offices nationwide.
