3. Eligible Programs
- Master’s Programs: Any full-time (1-year) Master’s program starting in 2025/26
- PhD Programs: Any full-time PhD (MPhil/PhD) research program starting in 2025/26
- (Note: Part-time and 2-year Master’s programs are NOT eligible.)

- A total award of £27,730, with the remaining balance after tuition provided as a stipend for living expenses
For PhD Students:

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Hyundai Motor Group Scholarship, applicants must:
Be a national of an African country and ordinarily resident in Africa
Be classified as an international student (paying international fees) for the 2025/26 intake
Academic Excellence Requirements:
- Master’s Applicants:
- Must hold (or expect to hold) a first-class honours degree (or top-ranked equivalent).
- A 2:1 degree may be considered but will not be prioritized.
- PhD Applicants:
- Must hold (or expect to hold) a Distinction-level Master’s degree (or top-ranked equivalent).
- Those with a Merit-level Master’s degree may apply but will not be prioritized.
Additional Requirements:
- Admission Application: Applicants must apply for admission at SOAS before submitting their scholarship application.
- English Language Requirement: Must meet SOAS’s English proficiency requirements before the selection panel convenes.
- Offer Letter: Candidates must have an unconditional offer by the time scholarship decisions are finalized.
