How to Apply for the UBC International Scholars Program in Canada 2025. Applications are now open for the 2025 UBC International Scholars Program in British Columbia, Canada. This program offers scholarships that cover tuition fees and contribute to living expenses for exceptional international students pursuing undergraduate degrees.

Application Deadlines:

  • November 15, 2024: International Scholars Program application due.
  • December 1, 2024: UBC admissions application due.
  • January 31, 2025: Submit supporting documents and meet UBC’s English Language Admission Standard.

Program Overview:

The UBC International Scholars Program seeks academically outstanding students from across the globe who demonstrate leadership, community engagement, and a commitment to making a difference both locally and globally. It offers need- and merit-based scholarships for students entering UBC for undergraduate degrees.

Program Benefits:

  • Earn a globally recognized UBC degree.
  • Study alongside talented and engaged students from around the world.
  • Access opportunities like community-based projects, study abroad programs, and leadership workshops.
  • Receive support through personalized academic advising and health and wellness programs.

Scholarship Awards:

The program offers four main award categories, for which all eligible applicants will be considered automatically:

  1. Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award: For students demonstrating academic excellence and leadership in community service and extracurricular activities.
  2. Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award: For students from disadvantaged or conflict-affected regions who have achieved academically despite challenging circumstances.
  3. International Impact Award: For students committed to addressing sustainability, climate change, social justice, equity, and societal health issues.
  4. Vantage One Excellence Award: For students with strong academic performance who do not yet meet UBC’s English language requirements.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be an international student with a valid Canadian study permit.
  • Be applying for your first undergraduate degree at UBC.
  • Demonstrate superior academic achievement and financial need.
  • Meet UBC’s general admission and English language requirements.

How to Apply:

  1. Get Nominated: You must be nominated by your school or a non-profit organization.
  2. Submit the International Scholars Program Application: Complete and submit your application by November 15, 2024.
  3. Apply for UBC Admission: Submit your UBC undergraduate application by December 1, 2024.
  4. Submit Supporting Documents: Ensure all required documents are submitted by January 31, 2025.

Award Announcement:

  • Results for the scholarship will be announced in mid-April 2025.
