The good news is that CELPIP is one of the fastest English language tests when it comes to releasing scores. Here’s what you can expect after test day.
Most CELPIP Results Are Ready Within 2–4 Business Days
Unlike some English proficiency tests that can leave candidates waiting for over a week, CELPIP delivers results relatively quickly.
In most cases, you’ll receive your Official Score Report within two to four business days after your test date. Business days do not include weekends or public holidays, so keep that in mind if you take your exam on a Friday.
Once your scores are available, you’ll receive an email notification letting you know they’re ready to view.
If you’re in a hurry, CELPIP also offers an Express Rating option in some cases, allowing eligible candidates to receive results in as little as one to two calendar days for an additional fee.
How to Check Your CELPIP Results
Unlike IELTS, CELPIP no longer issues paper score reports as part of its standard process.
Everything happens online.
When your results are ready, simply log into your CELPIP Account, where you’ll be able to:
- View your scores for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- Download your Official Score Report as a PDF.
- Access your results for up to two years from your test date.
Since most Canadian immigration programs and organizations accept the digital score report, there’s usually no need to request a physical copy.
Sending Your CELPIP Results
One of the biggest advantages of CELPIP is how easy it is to share your results.
If you’re applying through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or another organization that accepts CELPIP, you can simply download your Official Score Report directly from your account and submit it as instructed.
Many organizations now accept the digital report, making the application process much faster than mailing physical documents. Always check the requirements of the institution or immigration program you’re applying to before submitting your scores.
What If You’re Not Happy With Your Score?
Didn’t get the CLB level you were hoping for?
You have two options.
The first is to retake the entire CELPIP test. Unlike IELTS, CELPIP doesn’t allow candidates to retake just one section. If you want a higher score, you’ll need to complete the full exam again.
The second option is to request a re-evaluation.
You can apply to have some or all components of your test re-evaluated within six months of your test date. A fee applies when you submit your request, but if your score changes after the review, that fee is refunded for the affected component. Re-evaluation results are usually available within one to two weeks.
It’s worth noting that Listening and Reading scores rarely change during re-evaluation because they’re marked entirely by computer. Writing and Speaking are generally the sections most likely to benefit from a review if you genuinely believe your performance wasn’t reflected accurately.
How Long Are CELPIP Results Valid?
Your CELPIP score remains valid for two years from the date you took the test.
If you’re applying for Canadian permanent residency or citizenship, make sure your results are still valid when you submit your application. If they expire beforehand, you’ll need to take the test again.
