Hans Böckler Foundation Scholarships 2026 Germany; The Hans Böckler Foundation Scholarships 2026 are prestigious awards aimed at supporting foreign PhD students pursuing research in economics, the humanities, and the social sciences in Germany. The foundation encourages applications from outstanding candidates across the globe — especially from the Global South — who are passionate about advancing socially relevant research and contributing to international academic exchange.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a foreign PhD candidate enrolled at a recognized university (any nationality eligible).
  • Demonstrate strong academic qualifications and a well-defined research focus.
  • Show social, political, or cultural engagement, aligning with the values and principles of the Hans Böckler Foundation.
  • Provide a valid invitation letter from a German host university, research institute, or archive.
  • For the Dieter Schumacher Scholarship, candidates must be under 30 years of age at the time of application.

  • Monthly Stipend: €1,550
  • Annual Travel Allowance: €1,400
  • Duration: 12–24 months

2. Ute and György Széll International PhD Scholarship
